Pray For Our Elections

A Call to Prayer

On Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, 2020 we will be voting in General Elections to elect the President and Congress of the USA. According to 1Tim.2:1-4 God has given His people, the Church, the unique ministry of praying for their nation and its leaders. As the people of God, let's commit to prayer, praying every Tuesday, from now until Nov. 3, for our elections.

Pray that God:

protect the integrity of our Elections (no election fraud)
choose the President and Congress according to His will.
that He place godly men and women in positions of power.

Also, let's pray the Lord protect our Constitutional freedoms:

to publically practice our faith (freedom of Religion)
to publically voice our beliefs/opinions (freedom of Speech)
protect the rule of Law and that it be applied equally and fairly.

We are told in 1Tim. 2:1-4 to pray for our Leaders so that we might live a quiet and peaceable life. It is God's will for people to live good and wholesome lives and through prayer God partners with His people to bring peace and stability to our personal lives and, as we pray for our Leaders, to our nation. Prayer brings the Light of Truth over a nation and men's hearts and minds are changed. Prayer can bring a nation to spiritual and moral change more than the power of any man, or any law. Jesus said what is impossible with men is possible with God; we believe God can make a way where there is no way, so we pray.

Ephesians 6 clearly states our battle is not with men but with that Serpent of Old who day and night seeks only to steal, kill, and destroy. But God has given us weapons to stand against Him and His organized system of evil. Prayer is but one of these weapons. These weapons are not carnal (of human strength) but mighty through God and with them, we pull down (overcome) Spiritual Strongholds ( inward lies). The Devil is the Father of Lies but he cannot defeat Truth; he lives in Darkness and prayer shines Light on him. Prayer is more powerful than Darkness because it releases Truth over a Nation and shines the Light of God in the hearts and minds of the population; prayer brings spiritual and moral renewal to a nation, its leaders, and its people. Once renewed morally, a Culture is empowered to build foundations of peace.

The enemies of our freedoms are real and they are relentless in their pursuit to destroy. But we overcome them in the Name of the Lord. David when fighting Goliath said his strength was in the Name of the Lord. We fight the same Enemy using the power of God. Nothing has changed. We are people of faith and our strength is in the Lord and He promises to hear our prayers.

Prayer is not magic, but it will move mountains! Remember, we are members of His Kingdom, so we pray His Will, we pray His Word, and we pray in the Name of Jesus.
